River Ontario Canada P0R 1B0 (705) 356-5550 Birch Lodge and Cottages in Blind River Ontario A pleasant welcome awaits you as you come to relax or play and enjoy the seasons on the peaceful and quiet shores of Granary Lake (Magog Lake), a private little lake surrounded by mountains and beautiful scenery. We are located in North-eastern Ontario, halfway between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, just 12 kilometres (8 miles) north of the village of Blind River. All five of our fully-equipped housekeeping cottages face the lake and have a wonderful waterfront view overlooking 870 feet of shoreline and sandy beach area. Each has a glass and screen porch and an outside deck with a picnic table and BBQ. Three cottages have their own hot tub on the deck, and all have use of the sauna building. We offer two fire pits for an evening campfire, roasting marshmallows and listening to the whip-poor-will sing. Our sandy beach area is clean and great for swimming; there were have anchored a large floating dock for playing or relaxing. For additional recreation we have a spot for volleyball or badminton and a horseshoe pit, along with a large set of swings for the young and the young at heart. Our beautiful white winters speak for themselves with snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Enjoy some great outdoor ice-fishing or cozy up in our fishing hut. For the snowmobile enthusiast, Northern Ontario has some wonderful trails and we are just minutes from the #D105 with marked trails leading you to Birch Lodge and Cottages. We offer Bed and Breakfast for the snowmobilers and anyone else passing through our area in the fall or early spring. It's a nice quiet place to curl up on your porch with a good book or enjoy the view. During off-season we also offer daily rentals or 3 - day package rentals; great for romantic weekend getaways or time-out to do something different. If you are looking for a vacation or just relaxing and filling your days with outdoor activities, we have something for everyone. There are truly lots of reasons to come to Northern Ontario. We look forward to making your time with us special. Birch Lodge and Cottages - Accommodations We are proud to offer you clean and bright housekeeping accommodations. Each of our cottages face the lake and are not more than 100 feet from the water. They are fully equipped with both hot and cold water, electricity and a full-size fridge and stove (four burner stove with oven), and three or four piece bathrooms. Everything is provided, toilet paper, kleenex, paper towels. The kitchen has all you need, pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, dish towels, dish soap. If something is missing, it can be provided to you. All beds are made, sheets, pillows and comforters are all at your disposal. You need only bring bath towels, your personal items and your food. Outside you will have a propane BBQ (propane provided) and a picnic table. We have two burning pits for your evening campfire and all wood is provided. At the beach we provide wooden chairs to sit and relax. We are available on a reservation basis only, with a deposit of $150.00. Visa, Mastercard and cheques are accepted. ** No deposit, no reservation ** We love pets, however we cannot accommodate them at our lodge. Birch Lodge and Cottages - Upcoming Events Birch Lodge and Cottages is proud to present here events that we are participating in. Check back often to find out when the next event will take place! Birch Lodge and Cottages - Fishing Do some serious fishing or spend time with the children. Granary offers some very good fishing such as lake trout, northern pike, small mouth bass, perch and whitefish. We have boat rentals or bring your own boat along, this gives you the opportunity to fish three other lakes, not more than a fifteen minute drive from our place. Ice fishing in the winter is great with trout opening on the first of January, and by mid-month, weather permitting, our ice hut is available for our guests. Bring your snow machine or ATV, there is some good ice-fishing on the remote lakes as well. We can provide transportation to these areas also. Birch Lodge and Cottages - Hiking & Nature The Voyageur Trail offers some of the most wonderful scenery around. Have a chance to see our wildlife and spectacular mountaintop views! Even in winter, this trial offers some great sights as well as some good cross-country skiing. Birch Lodge and Cottages - Canoeing Take a canoe trip for the day, you can have a guided trip or venture out on your own. We will bring you to your starting point and pick you up at the end of your trip. You can bring your own canoe, or we will provide you with one. Your venture begins at Canoe Lake, from there you paddle to Cataract Lake. At the end of Cataract, you will have to portage beside a beautiful waterfall and then canoe through the Blind River water system into Lake Duborne. This wonderfully scenic route will bring you to the end of your journey where we will come to pick you up and return you to the lodge. Our canoe for two people, two paddles and life jackets as well as transportation is $165.00. If you bring your own canoe and equipment, the trip is $50.00. Birch Lodge and Cottages - ATVing We have plenty of smooth and rough terrain that will take you to some wonderful spots for scenery, fishing, relaxing of just an enjoyably great time. Guided tours are also available for fishing, hunting, or viewing the wildlife. Birch Lodge and Cottages - Tubing Great fun for the whole family! Our two-man tube is quite safe, no need to go overboard unless you so desire. We pull you behind our own boat. Birch Lodge and Cottages - Snowmobiling Our white winters speak for themselves. Northern Ontario has some great groomed trails, we are just minutes from the major trail #D105. You are able to come by snow machine as the trails are marked to Birch Lodge and Cottages. Trailer in as well, we have ample parking space. At the end of your fun day on the trails, relax in the hot tub on the deck of your cottage or use the sauna. For the one-night stays, we offer bed and breakfast between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. An earlier breakfast can be arranged as well. Get away from the hustle and bustle, we are open year-round!
